Welcome to Scarce Talent Info

Sparing our nurses from burnout

A site dedicated to the mission of educating the public about the nurse shortage hosted by book writer Gary John Shryock Jr., author of the book "Too Scarce to Sacrifice: Sparing our nurses from burnout"

When last receiving care, do you remember the technical name of the procedure or the type of medicine and its amount? What most of us remember most about our visit is the type of care we received. The person charged with our care - the one to whom we call out for help - is none other than the Nurse!

Whether a patient or provider of care at any level of service, you will want to check out the book "Too Scarce to Sacrifice" (currently offered through www.authors-corner.com).  In it is revealed  the economic factors which are systemic of a much larger labor management philosophy which, if left unchecked, will further undermine efforts to maintain an adequate labor force and thereby jeopardize our patient safety even more.

Talented nurses provide what all patients, regardless of diagnosis, require most...care.  In the self interest of our own care, how can we not attend to their most urgent needs, especially the ones that carry over to us and our assurance of safe care?

Granted, the nurse shortage is not the only troubling issue confronting healthcare.  However, few other healthcare concerns can be addressed until we solve this problematic crisis first.
